Prabhudas Avanigadda

I build the backend systems products run on, and I've built three of those products myself.

Previously backend at Rippling and Gameskraft. Every feature I build starts from the business problem behind it, then I work from first principles. With my co-founders now running day-to-day operations, I'm returning to full-time engineering.

Career record

From engineering teams to building my own products

Drawn the way a backend engineer reads a request: as a trace. Blue spans are jobs. Brass spans are my own products, which I founded and build myself. They are not separate employers.

Fig. 1Education, employment and my own products by start date. Open-ended spans are ongoing.

Experience

What I shipped, and what changed because of it

Every line reads: what changed, by how much, and how I did it.

Rippling

Software Engineer, Backend

Jan 2026 – Mar 2026 · Bengaluru

Left for a family health emergency to care for my mother at home.

Multi-provider flight search

Implemented filtering of unbookable offers in multi-provider search, with metrics and unit tests, and worked on the request fan-out and response aggregation across providers.

One search fans out to every provider in parallel. Offers that can't be booked are dropped before results return.

Offer deduplication

Changed the dedup core hash to group on fare basis. Distinct valid offers went from 353 to 390 (+10.5%), and corporate and public fares now stay separate.

Corporate fares used to collapse into public ones. Grouping on fare basis splits them back out.

Runtime configuration

Moved business rules and search strategies into JSON runtime config with fallback defaults, so a rule change no longer needs a deploy.

A rule change used to go through a full release. Now it's a config edit, with safe defaults if the config is missing.

Gameskraft

Software Engineer

Jul 2024 – Nov 2025 · Bengaluru

Transaction reconciliation

Designed a Java 17 Spring Boot service that reconciles internal records against payment gateways, with retries and timeouts, validation, OpenAPI docs and Jacoco/SonarQube quality gates.

Each internal record is matched to the gateway's record. Anything that doesn't match is flagged for review.

AWS Lambda CI/CD

Built pipelines for Lambda functions and layers with Docker, ECR and OIDC-based access: zero-downtime deploys, automatic versioning and rollback. Release cycles became 90% faster.

Release cycle length before and after the pipeline, and the stages every release now passes through.

Governed script execution

Built a Jenkins pipeline that runs scripts across 40+ AWS accounts, gated by Jira approval tickets, with validated inputs, least-privilege credentials and audit logs in S3.

Nothing runs until the change ticket is approved. Then the script reaches every account, and each run is logged.

Distributed logging

Built a logging pipeline on Fluent Bit, Kafka (Strimzi, KRaft), Fluentd, OpenSearch and S3, routed by team, service and level, isolated per team, and archived with zstd and Object Lock.

Events are tagged by team, routed to that team's Kafka partition, then indexed for search and archived.

Rakuten

Technical Intern

Feb 2024 – Jun 2024 · Bengaluru

Data integrity monitoring

Built a monitoring dashboard across 100+ datasets on GCP BigQuery and Looker, with automated anomaly detection, schema validation and version-controlled ETL.

Every dataset is checked on each run, and anomalies are flagged automatically.

My own products, founded and built end to end

Building a feature is the easy part. How it is built is what lasts.

Proto.Engineer

A first-principles platform for learning software engineering. 330 lessons, 11 courses.

Business problemEngineers learn the names of concepts, not why systems are built that way.

Tatvata

Verified creator identity for brand partnerships, scored across 15 niches.

Business problemBrands pick creators by follower count, which says little about real impact.

  • Explainable scoresFacts are never edited. Scores come from versioned parameters.
  • One less system to runA Postgres task queue replaced Celery and Redis.
  • Private by topologyThe API is reachable only from the web tier, behind Cloudflare.

How I build

One simple process, on every product

Business problem first. Then measure, decide in writing, and prove it before it ships.

  1. 01

    Start from the business problem

Name what it costs the business, then reproduce and measure what breaks. That's how a 275 s search became 313 ms.

  2. 02

    Decide in writing

One short decision record per choice: the problem, the options, why this one. 200+ across my products.

  3. 03

    Build one slice

Contract first, then one end-to-end slice with strict boundaries, never a half-built layer.

  4. 04

    Prove it

Tests and load before release: concurrency, database policies, the browser, and throughput.

  5. 05

    Ship through gates

Typecheck, lint, test and build must pass in CI. Every fix is logged with its root cause.
